Poland builds wall to keep out migrants sent from Belarus

Poland is building a £300 million border wall as thousands of migrants try to cross over from Belarus and the death toll rises.

On Thursday the lower chamber of parliament voted through plans to build the wall. That day 682 people tried illegally to enter Poland — almost six times the figure for the whole of last year. It also passed legislation that activists say aims to legalise the pushing of migrants back across the border, something not permitted by international law.
